CG and Natsource: Saving Money and Staying Green
Control Group announces partnership with Natsource, the world’s largest purchaser of carbon credits, to update Natsource’s IT infrastructure while staying green. Control Group’s IT services have enabled Natsource to reduce their server count by a factor of 10 to 1, drastically reducing Natsource’s electricity use and cooling requirements. CG’s consultants and managed services team achieved the server reduction while increasing capacity and performance by leveraging virtualization technologies from VMware and storage from EMC.
Natsource is a leader in the 17 billion dollar environmental asset management market, and as such is always looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint.
“The company has begun to and will continue its effort to reduce energy use and take other actions that reduce the company’s impact on the environment,” says Jack Cogen, Natsource’s CEO.
When Natsource needed to upgrade its technology infrastructure to accommodate new growth, director of IT Mike Grande turned to Control Group to find a way to meet the company’s demands for performance and availability while keeping with its core environmental values.
Control Group not only found a way to reduce Natsource’s carbon footprint, they also lowered overhead costs and created room to grow without the expense of creating a new data center.
Natsource now has the ability to scale its IT resources without expanding its physical infrastructure.
